The awkwardly giggling Yvonne de Carlo in this clip from 1971, was approached by David Selznick in the late 1940s to play Mary Baker Eddy in a biopic. The Christian Science authorities in Boston were resolutely opposed to a film about Mrs Eddy which they said "would inevitably trivialize" her life and work. After consideration de Carlo declined Selznick's offer on the grounds that to go against the wishes of the Mother Church "would bring down a storm of malicious animal magnetism on myself and the studio".
