M. Marceau was brilliant, of course, but in generasl I hate mimes. They're too 'passive-aggressive', and their acts often amount to little more than unflattering imitations/caracatures of those watching them.

You just want to punch them!

A little goes a long way.  I was in a variety theatre once when the mime came on.  After the first couple of minutes an old man near me shouted "Speak up".

Oh - it's  meme, not mime.  Sorry.  Ain't never  seen a meme act.  But a women in my office pronounced memo as meemo - which attracted a lot of -  to my mind unnecessary -  obloquy from people who consistently used the aberrant apostrophe. She was sweet and dotty.  She passed over - a spiritualist - years ago.  I wonder how widespread that  pronunciation is?  Which reminds me of Capt. Nemo - which would be a good name for a mime who are (at least professionally) terribly self-effacing,   I was checked last week for using they and them for he/she and him/her.  Then the person who corrected me told me she was at  a smart party in Hampstead  recently, and everybody was there.  I said - Was he?
